Up at 5:00 and out for a quick walk. As we had repacked most of our luggage the night before, we were ready to go immediately after a lovely breakfast at 8:30 by our hosts Alistair and Margo.
We enjoyed a quick hour and one-half drive over the countryside to Peebles, a market town about 27 miles south of Edinburgh. We parked in the car park and spent three hours walking the high street shops. We lunched at the Courthouse cafe (enjoying haggis pizza and fish and chips!) One of the most interesting sites was the voting and polling process regarding Scotland Independence. Today is voting day and both sides were out in force.
On to the Cringatie Manor House - a gorgeous and very luxurious manor house. Our rooms were magnificent - well appointed with king sized beds and luxurious showers. There was a small decanter of local whisky in each room for our enjoyment.
We walked the grounds and dined at 7:00. We started with a glass of prosecco and canapés in the lounge, and then into the dining room for a wonderful three-course dinner - professionally prepared and professionally served. We finished at 9:00 and returned to our rooms to complete packing
Our wake-up call is for 6:00 tomorrow, and we will arise knowing the result of the election. Perhaps we will awake in a new country?
