Arizona, Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Dionysius may have been smiling last night while we were lounging and drinking in the hot tub, but the wine gods are wreaking their vengeance this morning. Fools, I Say, Fools!!

Lazy morning today.  Late breakfast of eggs, turkey bacon and toast.  Shortly thereafter (well before the heat arrives) Dell, Deb and I take a neighborhood walk around Anthem, enjoying all the plantings of the high desert. Birds twittering, rabbits a hopping, ground squirrels burrowing, lizards darting, and signs of last night's coyote meanderings.

Back at the casa, Karen has been supervising Bob, the automatic Roomba, as he makes his Tuesday rounds.  He did manage to eat the apron strings that were dangling too close to the floor.  He can't be left unsupervised it appears.  Dell and I took our rental car back this morning rather than have to fight with it out to the airport.  We were able to drop it in town with no additional drop off charge.  Now Deb will just have to discuss return of the four unused days on the weekly rate.  I have no doubt that she will prevail.

Deb worked four plus hours today while I lounged outside in the shade.  Temperatures near 90F this afternoon, but the dry heat and a slight breeze made the patio shade more than tolerable.  Late afternoon, we departed for the town of Fountain Hills to meet our mutual friends, Frank and Jan Hraskey. They are snowbirds from Omaha who spend January through March in a nice condo in the Fountain Hills area.  We traveled the 45 minutes to their place, had a cocktail and then off to dinner at at Cucina Arrivederci. Good Italian food again and some decent wine.  We were seated on the east facing patio and able to watch the eponymous Fountain in the lake as it erupted every hour, on the hour.  The evening weather was absolutely marvelous - easy to see why so many people are seduced by this environment.

Back to Jan and Frank's for strawberry shortcake and then the long drive home. In bed by 10:00 from an enjoyably restful day.
