Arizona, Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Beautiful morning.  Up, showered and out on the patio for morning coffee and continuing discussion on the foolishness of the Republicans.  Standard breakfast of poached egg, turkey bacon and toast.  Of the dozen jumbo eggs procured for our morning breakfasts, fully 4 of 8 cracked so far have arrived with double yolks - what are the odds?  Oh yeah, 50% so far in this dozen!!

Out  this morning by 10:00 to head to the Museum of Instrumental Music (MIM.) We were skeptical at spending a full day in such an establishment, but as we departed after 3:30 in the afternoon and did not get through half of the exhibits, we were converts.  Dell and Karen have been to the museum 4 times in the last month and still haven't seen it all.  (They also got smart after the first three times at $40.00 per entry and became members!). Something we will do before our next visit.

Yes, the only complaint is up there in the last paragraph - the MIM is expensive.  We lunched in the cafeteria and Deb and I go out with a couple of salads and drinks for just under $35.00 and then the gift shop, although great was also not in the bargain category.  The MIM exhibits though easily make up for the bite.  We were especially taken by the Martin Guitar exhibit, the Steinway exhibit, and the entire area dedicated to Individual Artists, wherein there were small exhibits regarding an exhaustive number of musicians.

One of the outstanding facets of the Museum were the audio units they hung around our necks in the beginning at the entrance.  Each time you approached an exhibit, the audio started up with music and explanation of what you were viewing.  As you moved to another exhibit, a new audio started up.  You didn't need to follow in any particular order, nor did you have to enter a number or letter to key in the audio for any exhibit - a great use of technology.

We headed back to base in Anthem. Hopped into the hot tub, cracked a bottle of wine, and eventually dined al Fresca on Papa Murphy's pizza.  We were down and into bed shrortly after 9:00, fed, educated and tired with another great day in sunny Arizona.
